THE MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE ROLE INCLUDES

This position reports to the CFO and will work closely with the CFO and COO on a wide range of business and finance matters. The
position is overall responsible for overseeing the full finance function of the Company and Group.

  • Oversight of the preparation of the monthly finance and solvency packs for submission to the relevant stakeholders.
  • Preparation of the Company and Group Annual Financial Statements.
  • Key contact for Banks, Investments, External Auditors, and other stakeholders.
  • Responsible for all relevant tax and VAT submission and associated compliance.
  • Oversight and coordination of Safire’s BBEEE scorecard.
  • Key contact and responsibility for the annual company and group audit(s).
  • Oversee all merger and acquisition proceedings under the direction of the Chief Financial Officer.
  • Production, oversight and input in the annual budget and quarterly forecast process to assist business in meeting its objectives
    and identifying opportunities and/or challenges.
  • Ensuring compliance with the various accounting and tax regulations.
  • Assist the CFO and #Strat-Team in making strategic decisions.
  • Oversee Safire’s financial resources to achieve year’s revenue and budget goals.
  • Oversee preparation of quarterly and annual Solvency returns and other regulatory returns as required (SARB; PA; FSCA).
  • Analyse investment opportunities and ensure Safire’s investment capital is spent to best maximise profit.
  • Management of finance department staff, including their annual performance appraisal management.

This position will be critically involved in the development, roll out and embedding of the Company and Groups IFRS 17 reporting.

THE QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE WE ARE LOOKING FOR

  • Degree in Accounting.
  • Professional Qualification CA(SA)/CIMA/ACCA.
  • At least 5 years of working experience in a financial role; such as an accountant or auditor.
  • Exposure to a management position (advantageous).
  • Strong experience in financial reporting.
  • Good technical accounting knowledge of IFRS.
  • Ability to present and interact with management at all levels.
  • Experience in staff management and supervision.
  • Experience in short-term insurance (advantageous).
  • Experience in Sage Evolution (advantageous).
  • Adept in the use of Office 365 (Excel, Outlook, and Word).
