Madiba month magic

The Safire team were busy with several community/goodwill projects during July, Madiba month. We collected pet food and delivered it to the Pietermaritzburg SPCA, where there is always a need to feed the hungry furry ones. SPCA branches across the country receive no government funding and are totally dependent on their community for support!

With this in mind, we were also very active at the Hills 1000 Paws Walk for SPCA on Sunday 14 July, hosting water tables for thirsty dogs and their humans on the 2km and 4km walks around the Hilton College grounds. This is one of the main annual fundraising events for the three Midlands branches of the SPCA: Pietermaritzburg, Umngeni-Howick, and Mooi River & District. On such a warm sunny day, we were ‘flooded’ with demand for our water 😉 Take a look at the video journal from the event https://drive.google.com/open?id=1EcKqbKOA8n72VK4PIYchjgoNgSId7hkj

Safire also donated a collection of snugly PJs and tracksuits, towels and food to the Joseph Baynes Children’s Home in Pietermaritzburg. Apparently, the kids so loved their new PJs that they didn’t want to change out of them!

On Mandela Day, 18 July, we held a food market at Redlands Estate in Pietermaritzburg where our HO is located, and sold treats made by our staffers and donated by kind local retailers. An amazing R10 000 was raised for our two charities, the PMB SPCA and the Joseph Baynes Children’s Home.

Thank you to everyone who helped make these various projects such a success. We salute those who dedicate their every day to helping those in need.
