Background to the Safire Learnership and Internship Programmes
Safire Learnership Programme
The Safire Learnership Programme was launched on 1 February 2018 and offers unemployed youngsters with tertiary qualifications an opportunity to complete a 12-month learning period with Safire. This provides them with invaluable practical experience and insight into the insurance industry and allows them to work closely with Safire’s industry experts in several fields. Whilst gaining valuable work experience, the learners study to obtain a NQF 4 FETC in Short-term Insurance.
Safire Internship Programme
The Safire Internship Programme selects candidates with a tertiary qualification to join our various business units, including the Legal, Finance, HR, IT and Marketing departments. During the 12-month period, the interns receive hands-on training to upskill them. These interns provide Safire with a valuable source of talented potential employees.
Both the Safire Learnership and Internship Programmes are run in conjunction with INSETA (Insurance Sector Education and Training Authority). All learners and interns receive a stipend every month, and enjoy the same benefits of working at Safire as full-time personnel, which has a significant impact on the company.
“Safire values making a positive impact on the lives of these promising individuals,” says Megan Stella, Chief Operating Officer at Safire. “The Learnership and Internship Programmes have been structured to help them reach their maximum potential with the mentorship of the many experts in diverse fields who we are fortunate to have at Safire. We wish them well for the busy year ahead.”
