22 Oct Halloween Spending
While the celebration of Halloween is relatively low-key in South Africa, a study has found that American spending on the holiday this year will top $11.3-billion, with the average household spending $125 on candy, costumes, and decorations. Most people said they would spend the same as last year but about 20% said that they planned to spend more. An estimated $330-million will be spent on costumes for pets! Ebola-themed costumes are top of the Halloween shopping list for adults as the country begins to experience its first Ebola victims, while more traditional costumes for children such as Ninja Turtle outfits are the most popular this year.
